‘Splash out this spring/summer with our free floating litter-pick sessions on the London canals’ says Moo Canoes

Moo Canoes are teaming up this spring/summer with Poplar Union, Friends of the Cut and Lower Regent’s Coalition to offer free fun-packed floating litter-picking sessions on the Regent’s Canal, the Limehouse Cut and Limehouse Basin.

The twice a month, early evening, free litter-pick sessions will start from the Moo HQ in the Limehouse Basin, are open to anyone, and volunteer pickers can tackle the towpath on foot or splash around on the canal itself in one of Moo’s distinctive black and white two-person canoes and kayaks.

Sarah, from Moo Canoes, told LB News that London Boaters were especially welcome and that no experience was needed.

“The events are all run by our highly-experienced litter-pick leaders and supervised on the water by the lovely Moo Canoes crew,” said Sarah.

“No previous experience needed - the boats are very beginner-friendly - and our instructors will show you the ropes. If you don't fancy paddling, come and litter-pick along the towpath,” she added.

Moo Canoes is the formerly nomadic boat-based canoe hire company that is now based in Limehouse Basin. Its canoes are painted to look like Friesian cows. No one really knows why.

In 2014, Moo Canoes teamed up with London boaters, the Canal and River Trust, Save the Date Cafe and Three Sods Brewery to run free litter-pick events from the towpath at Broadway Market.
